Welcome to my story

A journey of passion, purpose, and powerful advocacy. I’m Sarah Sakala, and I’ve proudly returned to the pageant stage not just as a contestant, but as a voice for families, children, and communities who deserve to be heard and supported.

👩‍👦 My Journey as a Mother

Motherhood has been the greatest gift and teacher in my life. As the proud mum of two incredible autistic children, I’ve learned firsthand what it means to fight, to love fiercely, and to advocate without hesitation. Their strength fuels mine, and their joy drives my mission for greater awareness, inclusion, and support for neurodivergent children and their families.

🤝 Supporting the Vulnerable through Adwubicareplus

I am proud to work alongside Adwubicareplus Foundation, a charity devoted to supporting families living with disabilities, as well as vulnerable children and the elderly. Together, we focus on real impact, offering care, resources, and empowerment to those who are too often overlooked.

“True beauty lies in lifting others.”

👑 More Than a Crown

The pageant world is my platform to inspire and uplift. It’s a space to show the world that motherhood and ambition can beautifully coexist, and that leadership comes in many forms. I use my voice to advocate for compassion, strength, and social change, and I hope to inspire other women to do the same.

🎨 Creativity as a Calling

Art, music, and fashion are my tools for empowerment. My creative journey is not separate from my advocacy, it’s deeply woven into it. Through cultural expression and artistic storytelling, I share experiences that unite us, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate identity.

❤️ A Message to Women Everywhere

If you’ve ever felt that your story was too complicated, too difficult, or too different, know this: your story is your power. I return to the stage in honour of my sons, in pride of my heritage, and in celebration of every woman who dares to dream, rise, and lead with heart.

Mission Statement

Empowering every voice. Inspiring every dream.

Chïlö’s mission is to create music, businesses, and opportunities that uplift communities, celebrate authenticity, and encourage every woman to embrace her power, unapologetically.

Music Bio

Chïlö is an emerging artist blending soulful melodies with a message of strength and hope. Her music is rooted in her life’s journey as a mother, advocate, and storyteller, with sounds that echo her African heritage and modern global vibes. Every beat and lyric calls listeners to stand tall and believe that the time is now.

Community Impact

Beyond the music, Chïlö is dedicated to giving back. She uses her voice and platforms to support children with disabilities and the elderly, and underrepresented communities. From pageantry programs for young girls to inclusive fashion and charitable initiatives, Chïlö’s work brings people together to celebrate culture, creativity, and care for one another.

Representing Reading In the Pageant World

Being part of pageantry gives me the opportunity to honour where I come from while embracing who I’ve become – a mother, a businesswoman, a musician - (a creative ) and a proud member of the Reading community.

My culture, heritage and the strength of African women have always been a powerful source of inspiration in my life. Inspired by my South African roots

Running my own cleaning business, Sakala Cleaning Service, has taught me what it truly means to wear many hats. Life doesn’t always come easy, but every challenge faced builds resilience and strength.

My hope is to encourage women, especially here in Reading, to pursue their dreams, no matter their circumstances. You are never “too busy” or “too late” to start something that lights you up.

I’m especially grateful to be supported by Councillor Glenn Dennis, Reading’s first Black Mayor and an incredible advocate for inclusion and empowerment. His work with the Reading Community Learning Centre, a cause I’m also passionate about, continues to inspire me.

I’m inspired by leaders like Dr. Alice Mpofu-Coles, the first Black woman Mayor of Reading. Her dedication to her community, her vision, and her resilience during her campaign remind me that change is always possible, and that breaking barriers is never easy but always worth it.

Through my platform, I hope to do the same: break barriers, give a voice to the voiceless, and be a force for kindness, dignity, and real change.

As part of my wider mission, I’m also involved in organising a festival here in Reading to celebrate the music, art and culture of African communities. It’s just one of the many ways we can showcase our heritage and bring people together.

Thank you to everyone who’s been cheering me on. Let’s keep building each other up and creating space for every voice to be heard.
